"The balance of rational and emotion as equal partners is fundamental to my work. If the balance is not there, it's like a floor that's bent...uncomfortable to walk on. In my artwork I use lines, sometimes they touch each other, sometimes they don't. It's similar to passing people in the street: Suddenly you have eye contact with someone...a moment of intimacy...and then it's gone."

Andreas Sobik, of Austrian origin, is a successful artist and actor. He studied painting at the University for Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria, completing his Masters degree in 1985. He emigrated to Australia at the beginning of this Century, to live and work in Adelaide with his Australian wife.
