Olgerts’ passion is art and he believes "It is a buzz to start a new canvas because you have no idea where it will lead you."
Currently Olgerts is very passionate with the turquoise of the sea, the beauty of Antarctica and storms that abound our coasts. He is exploring the theme “Challenging Colours”.
Olgerts Laukirbe is of Latvian parents who have clearly passed on their creative talents. He is a graduate of the renowned Stanley Street School of Art at North Adelaide. His early art and creative focus took him to the printing industry and then he swaggered his way through the State Government cultural and design agencies with some considerable creative success.
A few years ago he began his sojourn back to fine art and has taken the abstract impressionism route. He has engaged it with vigour and creativity.
Olgerts has a passion for the "heavens” and how space and the cosmos colours interact with each other to produce unbelievable colour shows. He has travelled extensively by air over outback South Australia and has seen the effects of fire, floods, droughts and the human toll on our country.
He has recently worked on three completely different folios encompassing his current three passions - storm cloud formations; floods and the traversing of the outback rivers and the gorgeous turquoise of our oceans.
He is currently Artist in Residence at The Marina Hindmarsh Island.
