Figurative, abstract, textural, glazed, bold, quirky, expressionist and colourful are some of the ways you could describe my work. It varies in style and medium in the form of linocuts, etchings, collagraphs, drawings and paintings. Born in Holland, I migrated to Australia as a six year old. Our family made the most of this new and wonderful experience – the warmer climate and the vast, beautiful landscape. We traveled and camped, loved the beach and long drives and enjoyed our many new friends. These experiences are the source of inspiration for my work. My art reflects my passion for life, people, nature, music, colour and fun. |

At art school I graduated with a Bachelor of Design. I freelanced for publishers and advertising agencies using several studios around Adelaide that I shared with other artists, architects and designers. As the demand for photography & computer graphics increased I began to yearn for a more ‘hands on’ approach. I returned to further study and achieved a Bachelor of Visual Arts. Exploring new techniques and mediums enhanced my interest in printmaking and painting. Unlike design, visual art allows the image to develop through emotion. My art is a combination of both, designed placement of shapes and spontaneous effects. My experience has given me opportunities to work as an exhibitor and curator; with children and adults on community arts projects and events; designing and painting murals and teaching. |
