As an artist, I am attracted to Koi fish because of their symbolic meaning in Asian culture. In addition to their beauty, they are courageous. In difficult times, they remind us never to give up. They are determined fighters, symbolising good fortune and success.
My personal journey into the art world has been one of determination and growth. I Started out in a small art and craft business as a way of supplementing the family income. Within a year of opening the business, I was asked to present an art and craft segment on T.V., which spanned over 10 years.
With a passion to create and paint, my apprenticeship has spanned over 30 years growing in experience, a result born out of necessity. Colour has always attracted me along with movement, design and pattern and slowly I have developed a style unique to my personality. My other passion is teaching and working with my students, who in turn inspire me into areas I would not normally explore. I love to try new concepts, subjects and styles, and so not only do I focus on the Koi fish but many more subjects, wherever the moment takes me.
