We've Done It

Hurrah! We've done it.
After one year of slaving over a hot computer we have completed our new website. We've always had an ART LOGIC website - so why would we bother making a new one?

This is the conversation that got the ball rolling:

"Jacqueline, your website is shocking; 'horrible' would be a kind
adjective to describe it." - a heart-warming comment from an IT friend.

"Oh come on Phillip," I stutter, trying hard to hide my upset, "if it's that bad, why are people always praising it?"

"Oh it looks fine, I agree. Your website looks like a custom-made wardrobe with sleek, shiny doors; it sparkles from the outside. But when you open those doors, a mountain of mess falls upon you, brutally crushing you to the ground."

"Aaah right..um...I don't get it."

"Well, you know your website has been a piecemeal job; you've just kept adding and adding content to it with no grand design behind it all. For example, a key rule of website creation is that every page needs to have its own URL. From an SEO perspective your website is a disaster etc." I'll spare you from further boring details...and don't send the president of the AAS (Anti-Acronym-Society) after me.

So I decided to take on Phillip's challenge - build a new website with a sound foundation and a grand design. I got help; I found Mark, a genius nerd, who dedicated many an hour to our project. But life's problems kept him from completing the job, so Lucas Tulloch took the helm and guided us safely through the stormy waters; it's been a long, hard, perilous, madness-inducing journey.

And, being a firm believer in revenge, I've strapped Phillip in throughout the whole process - demanding his expert advice at all hours (nerds stay up until 3am)...just to make sure he'd truly regret his offhand comment.

Well, we've done it; this is the final product. And yes, the wardrobe is tidy, each page has its own URL...and many other nifty, nerdy niceties. I wonder what Phillip will dare to say about it?

I'd love you to comment on our new ART LOGIC website too - down the bottom of the contact page you'll find a form to leave comments.

Yours artfully,
Jacqueline
