The perfect birthday present: Sculpture

We at ART LOGIC love happy endings, so when a potential client came to us looking for a sculpture for his wife’s birthday, we were more than happy to help him find the perfect one. And, after a trip for Jacqueline and the client to sculptor Tim Thomson’s foundry, we had succeeded.

One of Tim’s newest pieces, Ladies’ Choice, was the ideal choice for this man’s lady: the fun cleverness of its concept, paired with the fact that the client, a geophysicist, often works in the Australian desert, surrounded by curious camels who watch his every move, came together to create the perfect gift.

Tim gave his sculpture the title ‘Ladies’ Choice’ – why? Let me cite the artist himself: “This is the second lot of camels I’ve made. The first was a mob of running camels; I explored their movement. I wanted to reinvestigate the theme. What interests me about camels is their long, lanky forms. You can just envisage a group of running girls: they see a boy positioning himself and suddenly stop, banging into each other. The male camel is doing his thing, but despite all his bravado, it is their choice, the ladies' choice.”

The more that I think about it, the better this gift becomes – did you know that most of the exploration into the interior of Australia was made possible by camels (and, as the saying goes, you never stop discovering new aspects of the one you love!)?

Even today camels still provide essential aid in the desert, such as when your car breaks down.  You can dump your car’s engine and revert to the former ‘cart and horse’ concept instead, and create ‘camel and car’ locomotion (need we point out what a perfect parallel of making a relationship work that is?).

So, if you’ve been thinking about that special gift you can never find for that very special loved one, why not give us a call (0432 924 305), and see if we can find it together?
